Jumper

Ainsley can finally touch the ground with her feet in the jumper. Grandma and Grandpa bought this jumper for Ainsley back in July. We have been putting her in it for the last couple of months with a pillow under her feet. She didn't seem to enjoy it much until now. I don't think she will ever be very tall. As you can see in the video, she is going through that stage where everything is going into her mouth. I think she may be teething. I guess we will see if any teeth come in soon.

Football Game

Last night, I took Ainsley to the Texas State University football game. Grandma, Grandpa and Ma were there too. Ma is my Grandma. We have great seats to every football game thanks to my Dad. The seats are on the first row on second deck. Ainsley really enjoys going to the game. I think she enjoys being passed from person to person instead of watching the actual football game. The only thing I noticed her watching were the cheerleaders when they had their pom poms.

Ainsley got a surprise visit from someone special.

A Visit from Uncle Stewart

Uncle Stewart came by to visit Ainsley last night. It was so nice to see him because we haven't seen him since early August. I am happy that he decided to stop by on his way back to Huntsville. He got to our house at 7:30 ready to see her. Well, she was already alsleep, so I woke her up. Uncle Stewart taught Ainsley a bad song. A song that Mommy doesn't want Ainsley to learn. Atleast he changed the word beer to bottle. I guess that made it a little better. To hear the song, watch the video. I think Ainsley is more interested in his watch than the song anyway.

More Solids

We have been introducing Ainsley to more solids. Josh decided to try prunes. Yuck - I hate prunes. Ainsley seems to like it, so I guess she can eat Grandmama's prune cake recipe at Christmas time with her Daddy. When we feed Ainsley solids she tends to get it everywhere, so we have been just feeding her in a bib and a diaper so she doesn't ruin more of her clothes!

Her other favorite foods are sweet potatos, carrots, and peaches!

Bithday Party

Last night we celebrated Barbara's birthday. We fed Ainsley a little bit of ice cream cake. I think she has a sweet tooth like her mommy!

Rolling Over

This last week Ainsley started rolling from her back to her stomach. We have been waiting for her to roll for at least 2 months now. I have only seen her roll from her stomach to her back once was that was in late July. Now she rolls from her back to her stomach everytime we put her on her back. Then, she usually cries until we roll her back. I read somewhere that most babies roll from their stomach to their back first. Not Ainsley - she is the 10% that does the opposite:) Since she is rolling, she woke up twice last night in her crib on her stomach with her head stuck in the corner. We even tried the sleeping positioner and she still rolled. I guess she is going to have to get use to sleeping on her stomach.

Books with Grandma

Since my mom and I are both reading specialists, we know the importance of reading with Ainsley. Everytime we see Grandma, she makes sure she reads to Ainsley. Ainsley always enjoys books being read to her.

Ainsley's Favorite Animal

OK - so she has only seen 2 animals before - dogs and cats. I think she perfers the cats. One night when we were sitting outside with the cats, we noticed that Ainsley kept laughing when the cats would walk by. Josh and I decided to teach her how to pet the cats. We aren't sure if the cats like Ainsley yet. I guess they will do anything for a little extra attention, so she isn't so bad. If I had to guess, we are probably not suppose to let Ainsley near cats until she is older because of allergic reactions - oh well. I am pretty sure this didn't cross Josh's mind, but I decided to let it go and enjoy watching her with the cats. She didn't have any allergic reastions, so I guess we are in the clear -at least for now.

The video below shows Ainsley petting Buck, our cat.

Dinners with Daddy and Mommy

Josh and I try to sit down every night and have dinner together. We noticed that Ainsley likes to sit with us too. We use to put her in the jumper to play while we were eating dinner and noticed that she would fuss until we put her at the table with us. So, our latest routine every night is for Josh to fix dinner while I bath Ainsley and put her in pajamas. After dinner, we usually go for a walk in the neighborhood. I push Ainsley in the stroller and Josh has the dogs. Then, we put Ainsley in bed after the walk. On a good night, we try to have Ainsley in bed by 7:30.

The movie below is a typical night at the dinner table.

Ainsley's Daycare

Ainsley started daycare a few weeks ago when I went back to work. I have to say that I was very worried and felt guilty about putting her in daycare. I was worried about all of her needs being met properly, and I felt guilty for not staying at home and taking care of her myself. I have to say - I worried for nothing!

The reasons daycare is working:
1. Her daycare is actually in the school I work at, so I can go check on her whenever I would like.
2. There are only 3 babies in a huge classroom with lots of toys, bouncers, jumpers, etc.
3. They are very good about writing everything down that happens.
4. Curriculum is important to me, so I have noticed that she is often read to, sang to and does crafts.
5. I feel better having a structured routine and going to work.
6. Ainsley is usually alert (if not sleeping or eating) playing with the other 2 babies or toys.
7. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Ainsley is happy!
